Hi.
I just had this strange idea and i decided to share it with you and you can tell me what you think.
I don't know if anyone suggested anything simmilar but it would be good if we had some pubblick quicknote rooms with different categories like in ventrilo. We could have the general chat which is going to be like pubblick quicknotes at the moments but also other more spessifick categories such as music, computers etc. So by going in these rooms we would find people closer to our interests to chat to.
So what do you think?
I like the idea, but I think it's not too realistic. The quick note feature is just a simple feature which allows us to communicate while on all parts of the site. simple combo box with everyone's name, and the edit box. simple.
as well as coding difficulties, I just think the site would become too cluttered, and it will also isolate the community somewhat.
I dunno, i could be wrong; I just don't think it's too practical really.
Yes after i posted the topick i actually thought that coding a feature like this one might be difficult.
I didn't give it a lot of thought before posting.
But i don't think it would distract the comunity. In ventrilo there are the different rooms and people can choose the one they want.
But ventrillo and qn's are 2 different applications entirely. I also think that's why we have the boards categorized. If u want a specific board category created, and there is enough interest, then we'll do that.
I've thought about this, in fact I think I posted it somewhere else here, but in retrospect, I kind of think it's a bad idea because it would further fragment the zone.
But, if others like it, go for it.

If you're looking for a somewhat realtime chat in a category, try graffiti.
Yes graphity could work like that if we could set up notifications for categories we might like so as soon as something arrives we can go and check. Otherwise i don't know how it could work as a real time chat unless if we agree with somebody that we are going to chat there

too bad the idea isn't practical, I liked it. I like the idea of a safe haven room on quick notes, but oh well. thanks for posting this topic nikos, very interesting even if it ca't be done.

I love the idea.
Something that should also be pointed out about Vintrillo. People normally go into a room, and all subject matters gets discussed anyway. I don't see people useing the "Languages, Teen Topics" etc rooms. Generally from what I've seen, people will go into the lounge, the bar, or Cup of Joe and anything that comes up is discussed. So if we look at it from the vantage point of what happens on Vintrillo, this wouldn't work. I mean if room names don't have much marret on VT, what makes you think they will have any marret in Quicknotes? Maybe the reason this type of system wouldn't work is due to the fact there aren't enough people on here at any given time. IN other words, if there were over 1000 users logged on at any time of the day or night, then perhaps this quicknotes room thing would fly better. I just don't tink the comunity is big enough to support such a venture, yet. In the future as it gros then perhaps. John

I like this idea only because I been on here on several occasions where people were talking about totally different things at times, and the convos are quite hard to follow.
At this point I would suggest creating a board topic about whatever it is you want to discuss but then again you'd have to wait for other people to post which could take awhile so chat rooms would most definitely be a good idea.
However even if these chat rooms were created it doesn't mean the confusion would stop. There could still be different conversations going even in a specified room.
Generally on Vintrillo, the conversation flows. One topic is talked about until someone brings up something else. Sometimes its small talk, other times it not so tiny...
and sometimes, someone will start talking almost before the person already talking gets through, so sometimes people just talk over each other, which is confusing.
